An infiltration basin or well is a tank which recovers rainwater from storms and disperses it into the ground to avoid overloading channels or networks.
These basins are generally found in urban environments for plot-based rainwater management, but they are also built along major roadways, downstream from treatment plants.
During expansion projects or new construction, by retaining all stormwater on the receiving lot, downstream overloading of individual or existing rainwater networks is avoided along with the creation of new networks in zones located far from surface drains.
Furthermore, managing rainwater at the source, specifically from infiltration as drainage means, is part of an important European initiative. Indeed, regulations are changing practically everywhere in favor of alternative techniques which make it possible to, among other things, replenish the water table.
